I am a big fan of Soul music. Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons, The Spinners, Dee Edwards and many many many more.

I went through this phase of finding out all of the original songs that all my favourite hip hop beats were sampled from. I figured out that I liked a lot of the original songs more than the tunes they were used for............ Lots of time well spent.

Anyways. One artist that I never get tired of listening to is Mayer Hawthorne. I'm a big fan. His sound perfectly matches Motown and soul songs that I love listening to. Mayer Hawthorne isn't that much older than me though so he is new school soul.

He writes beautiful songs about love, happiness, all the mushy stuff we love to try and relate to ourselves check him out. I saw Mayer Hawthorne & The County once when I was in New York City and they were cool, I saw them again in Auckland at Splore city and they blew me away. Great performers.

As emo as it sounds this man is so good at honesty in lyrics

A lot of people want to put that honesty into practice but most of us cant.

At least we have music to relate to.
