"All I can ever be to you,
And this regret I've got accustomed to"
I am a big fan of Amy Winehouse.
Her music has seen me through many plane rides, long drives, sad times, good times.
"It's my responsibility,
And you don't owe nothing to me"
Lyrically I wish I could write as emotionally well as you....
To write is such a release.
A friend of mine asked me to complete a survey the other day to help her with her studies in psychology at Auckland University. It was pretty easy, I had to scale my feelings from 1-5 on how I was feeling about a bunch of different emotions. eg: stressed, happy, depressed, excited, inspired etc...
Then I had to write for 15 mins non stop about everything in my life that made me happy. Then fill out the same emotional gradings once I had finished writing. I had to do the same thing the next day but I had to write about sad times in my life. I found it so interesting how different I felt after expressing my emotions down on paper. It really triggers different emotions just by focusing really hard on one thing. When was the last time you wrote about happy things in your life for 15 mins??
A lot of people like to listen to others express their emotions and agree with the artist as their form of release, others like to document their own feelings in writing. Amy Winehouse had the gift of written emotions to an art. I like to write sometimes if I am feeling strong about something.
There were a big bunch of times I just chose to listen to Amy.
"He walks away,
The sun goes down,
He takes the day but I'm grown,
And there's no way, in this blue shape,
My tears dry on their own"
This is my Favorite Winehouse Tune for many reasons.....
So we are history,Your shadow covers me
The sky above,
A blaze only that lovers see
I wish I could say no regrets,
And no emotional debts.
The sky above,
A blaze only that lovers see
I wish I could say no regrets,
And no emotional debts.
Cause as we kiss goodbye the sun sets.
RIP AMY.
