When you hit a wall, Just Kick it in.

I just finished reading the book, "Just Kids' by Patti Smith. It's truly one of the most inspiring and interesting stories I have ever read. Patti embarks on a hell of a journey through New York City with her life long friend, Robert Mapplethorpe. From sleeping on the streets, to living in the Chelsea hotel, then eventually becoming a legendary poet and rock n roller. Patti talks about identifying with Zelda Fitzgerald's rebellious spirit. She describes herself as a little girl, who passing a shop window, has the urge to kick it in. I too identify with this rebellious spirit and the feeling of not wanting to be confined by rules. One of the take-aways for me was that you've got to do what you do best, and who knows what will grow of it. But keep going. Who knows what will happen with modeling, where my travels will take me, what will come out of starting to take photographs, or our blog and other creative endeavors. Keep going. Keep hustlin'. Good things will happen. Plant those seeds and watch them grow. Life will take you to great places you never anticipated.

While I was living in NYC, a photographer and I shot a series of photos in hotels. We were lucky enough to snatch a room at the chelsea hotel one night. Here are a few photos, shot on film, by Edwin Datoc.

I suggest this book to anyone with a free-spirit, open mind, and/or a creative soul. Or, simply, a lover of NYC and Rock n Roll.

"I'll probably always feel outside of society. To me being outside of society is a happy place to be."
